Flotilla 13-12 stood watch at the Tobay Boat Show on Oct 1 and Oct 2. Thanks go to Joe Tomasone, Martin McKenna and Howard Silverman for their support.

At the Division election meeting the newly elected officers for 2010 are: Vincent Porsella, DCdr and John Geiger, VDCdr.

Any one planning to be at Station Jones Beach wearing ODUs must have their sleeves in the short position until October 31. From November 1 to March 31 long sleeves will be  the proper uniform. This will assure that all Auxiliarists conform to the regular Coast Guard uniform, as requested by Sr Chief Lathrop.

There is a food drive going on at the Station for nonperishables. A box is inside the front door for your donations.

As the water temperature falls below 60 degrees, mustangs will be required unless a waiver is obtained from the OOD at Station Jones Beach.

New or re-inspection of Operational Facilities requires a copy of the registration.

Newly elected Flotilla Commander and Vice Commander are reminded of the Leadership Conference held in Groton, CT early December. This is very informative and highly recommended.

Please consider volunteering for a staff position for 2010. The Commander and Vice will need YOUR  support. New positions added for 2010 are Chief-Response, Chief-Logistics, and Chief-Prevention. That makes 19 positions to be filled by 24 members.

Respectfully submitted,
Sol Zigman FC

Your Flotilla Needs You!  And so do I!

Now is the time to be thinking about what to do for the flotilla over these long drab winter months.  Well, I’ve got a great idea or two!  Have you ever wondered about becoming a qualified Instructor (IT) or a Vessel Examiner (VE).  This is a great time of year to get these qualifications out of the way.  In both cases all you need to do is pass an online exam, do some OJT (5 VSC’s for VE, teach 2 classes for IT) and we enter it into AUXDATA and poof you’re qualified.
